We provide fun and safe pony riding for 4-7 year olds in East Lothian, near Edinburgh.
We are now taking bookings for treks from the 3rd April 2010!
What happens on a trek with Treks 4 Tots?
Treks take place on our chosen area of private farmland, near Gifford in East Lothian, and our beach treks take place at Yellowcraigs beach and John Muir Country Park. Upon arrival, children will be introduced to the trek-leader and the pony allocated to them. They will be given time to spend getting to know their pony; grooming, patting, talking and learning about them.
Your child will be given a riding hat, conforming to u.k safety standards, which are adjustable so as to fit their head snugly. They will then be able to meet their allocated pony and learn a bit about them. It will then be time to mount the pony, do some walking up and down and get a feel for riding, all with careful support and supervision from the trek-leader. Once each child is ready we set off on the trek. The ride itself takes 20-30 minutes, through fields and woods.
As children grow more experienced and confident, the trek time can be increased,
but for beginners we have found that 20-30 minutes is amply sufficient. When the trekking is over, the child will dismount and there will be time for patting, grooming and photographs. Treks 4 tots clothing and souvenirs will soon be available to buy. After that, it will be time to say goodbye and take your thoroughly exhausted child home!
